JIEMS Awards

  • 2017 JIEMS AWARD
    • JIEMS – Journal of Inborn Errors of Metabolism and Screening – is the official journal of the Latin American Society of Inborn Errors of Metabolism and Neonatal Screening;
    • JIEMS will award the best paper published at the journal; as this is the first edition of the JIEMS AWARD, will be eligible all original papers (reviews, letters to the editor, case reports, and technical notes are not eligible) which are online by May 31, 2017 (selection will be automatic, no need to apply for this Award)
    • The 2017 JIEMS AWARD ward consists in the presentation of the paper in the plenary closing session of ICIEM 2017, plus a certificate for each one of the co-authors and a grant to the presenting author including registration at ICIEM, air travel, transfer and accommodation (if these expenses were already made by the time of the announcement, they will be reimbursed to the presenter);
    • The 2017 JIEMS AWARD winner will be selected by an ad-hoc committee of members of the JIEMS Editorial Board, and will be announced in June 20;
    • The winner (corresponding author, or any co-author indicated by the corresponding author) will be invited to present the paper at the ICIEM Plenary Closing Session, to be held on September 8 from 14:00 to 16:00, and should confirm attendance by July 5, 2017;
    • The presenter will have 12 minutes for the presentation, plus 2 minutes for questions;

Travel Scholarships

  • YOUNG DELEGATES SCHOLARSHIPS
    • Up to twenty ICIEM 2017 YOUNG DELEGATES SCHOLARSHIPS will be awarded, in a competitive basis;
    • Delegates awarded with a scholarship will have the registration fee waived (or reimbursed, if it was already paid) and accommodation provided by the congress organizers in a double room (sharing with another awardee) for up to 4 nights in one of the official ICIEM 2017 hotels;
    • To be eligible for a scholarship, the candidate should;
      • Bo born in or after September 4, 1981;
      • Have an abstract submitted to ICIEM 2017 as first author;
    • To submit the application, candidates should send by the abstract submission deadline (May 3, 2017), the following documents to the email [email protected];
      • Letter from the candidate, explaining about the need of this award to increase the chance of participating in the congress;
      • Letter from a member of one of the 5 organizing societies supporting the application, explaining why the candidate would deserve such award and indicating that the candidate is active in the field of inborn errors of metabolism or newborn screening (as undergraduate or graduates student, post-doctoral fellow, young professional or young investigator);
      • Copy of the abstract submitted as first author;
      • Copy of passport of identity card confirming the birth date.
    • Selection will be performed by an ad-hoc committee with representatives of the 5 organizing societies, considering the financial need and the scientific merit.
    • The outcome of the selection will be announced by June 20, 2017.
